History: When it came to Tate's birth, his parents were a very happily married couple. One of the rare couples that were married before they moved into Lunarium. But Tate's father was a renown scientist in the field of Gene therapy, his studies were making a difference to the world and the new facility that opened up at Lunarium was perfect and they offered him the chance to work there. The family was pretty happy, even talking about having another child when Tate was about three years old.
In Tate's world, everything was perfect. Yet at the age of five, he saw something that scarred him for the rest of his life. His parents were both live blood donors and he was often took to the blood bank when he was younger when his mother couldn't get a babysitter for him. He had always been around vampires from a young age, the seeds were already there in his brain. When his mother had taken a bit longer than usual to come back from her room, the five year old left the children's room of the hospital in search of why she had taken so long. Opening the room he remembered she was given, it would be a few more years before he really understood what he saw. The way his mother was covered in blood, moaning with the vampire on top naked. He knew it was bad, the five year old ran back to the playroom and pretended to see nothing.
As the days went on, the five year old just couldn't stop thinking about the blood. That was all he saw when he looked at his mother. The blood. It started with the innocent kids books that had vampires in them before as he grew, it moved onto other things. Surfing the internet for tales and folklore on Vampires, trying to talk to those in the town who were his age and such. He tried to just know as much as he could about then. His parents never really noticed the obsession or perhaps they had just pushed it away and let him get on with it. With his exposure to them as a young age, it was hardly surprising.
When he was sixteen, his parents signed him up as a blood donor to which he had no objections whatsoever. His parents were almost tempted to put it off till he could give his own permission for it with keen he was about the idea. When it was his first time to give blood as a live donor, his memories finally came back to the surface for him. Offering his wrist out when he saw the fangs of the vampire, everything came back. The blood on his mother, the way the vampire was over her naked, in a panic; he left the room heading back home wishing away the memories of what he remembered. Arriving home to the surprise of his mother, he confronted her about what he saw that day and could read her easily. He saw it was on her face that it had happened for years. Cheating on his father with a vampire. Not just in the blood bank, it was sole reason he used to have a babysitter so she could see her vampire lover. When his father came home, he couldn't hold the secret and told the man. Watching over night as his parents marriage went down ten times quicker than the titanic. His mother blamed him when his father filed for divorced, becoming bitter to her child as she demanded that he had to live with his father.
Till he was eighteen, his parents were cold to him. As if he was the reason that his mother cheated, for the affair itself. Tate just put his head down back into his vampire world and studies. He finally did end up donating blood and the experience did more to him than he imagined. He found something so thrilling about it. Letting someone drink his blood and it only became more personal of an experience when he was married a few months after his eighteenth to a vampire.
Tate was overwhelmed by the marriage. When he met his husband, the man was very demanding and controlling, it was clear to everyone but Tate. He was too infatuated by the fact he was married to a vampire to notice how his husband was. His husband forced him to move in with him within a few days of their marriage, much to the protect of his father. Tate was too blind to see how his husband was. At first things were good between them. Tate would give him blood when he needed it and it was on his terms. Mostly his wrists or if it was painfully sore then he could allow his neck but still he avoided it. But he was hesitant to let him drain from where his husband most wanted and that his thighs. Deep down, Tate knew that he didn't want to give all of himself to his husband yet, his last feet of control in their relationship. Feeling as if everything else had been taken away from him, he knew he could still have control over his husband's blood feedings. For the years of their marriage, his husband had been manipulating him emotionally. Convincing him that he was in love with him, that he didn't need to leave him and should just stay at the home. He even tried to convince Tate to give up on his career choice in the healthcare sciences.
His father tried to express concern again and again to him. Yet, even Tate doesn't know if he was really that blinded by what his husband was doing to him or if he was truly in love with the guy. Even when there was moment when Tate just wasn't comfortable around him and times when Tate wished he was somewhere else. The vampire had gotten into his head and he was scared to admit to himself that he did or didn't love him. When he was around twenty three, done with university and trying to find a career in science and hospitals, his husband proposed the idea of turning him. Tate was torn. Part of him was excited and wanted to scream happily about the idea. The idea of becoming what he was most obsessed with was everything he wanted but then he was giving in everything he had to a man he was confused and partly scared of. Residing to have an eternal life with him. Tate had never given him an answer back and turns out his husband made up his mind for him.
Tate had let his husband drink from his neck for once, the vampire insisting it was his birthday and he deserved it. Giving in to him, Tate realised his husband had taken far too much from him and for too long. He tried to push the other away but his strength was pathetic compared to the vampire. But the overwhelming adrenaline that went through him to keep his life was stronger. Pinned down on the bed, feeling his life start to slip away from him he reached over the bedside for the lamp, the closest thing he could reach that had any hit in it. He swung at his head before just repeatedly hitting him to try and at least get him disorientated. With one last hit, Tate ran for his life. The safest place he knew being his father's home. It was any wonder how he even got to his father's home without collapsing and drawing more vampire attention to himself. With almost three pints of blood lost from his body, it was a rush to hospital to get him on a transfusion and keep him from going into shock. When he woke up the next day, things didn't get any easier. Although alive and well, now came the trials to get a divorce, to get away from his husband. The clear proof of a struggle in the bedroom, the fact there was no proof of any consent on Tate's part and the recklessness of his husbands in the process, he was granted a divorce. However not the threats from his father who planned to go to news if his son wasn't granted a divorce.
Thrown into therapy afterwards by his father, Tate is still for the most part trying to adjust to life again and what he wants form it. He has a good career as a healthcare scientist and a good social life again. But his obsession is still there. The feeling of having his life taken away from him still haunts him as nightmares and yet part of him craves that again. Every time he gives blood, he can feel the craving for it. The want to feel that again. But he still is completely terrified of ever seeing his ex-husband again.
